For Immediate Release PRESS RELEASE November 7, 2013 I DO BUSINESS. Community Summit hosted by Chapleau Cree First Nation – Promoting Success for Aboriginal Entrepreneurs – Calling All Aboriginal Entrepreneurs! Chapleau Cree, Ontario (October 22, 2013) – The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities along with FEDNOR provided funding to support the planning and delivery of the I DO BUSINESS. (IDB) Community Summit hosted by Chapleau Cree First Nation. The I DO BUSINESS. Community Summit was held at the Chapleau Cree Band Office on October 22nd, 2013 to provide entrepreneurial learning, networking and business opportunities for community members. With an on reserve population of around 90 people we were amazed that approximately 34 individuals registered and attended the Summit! The Community Summit was a great success and I DO BUSINESS. received very positive reviews from everyone who participated. We have taken a big step towards building capacities for Aboriginal Entrepreneurs in Chapleau Cree First Nation to effectively grow and sustain their businesses through forward thinking business training, planning and partnership building. The Summit had 3 key outcomes: 1. Identified business and employment opportunities for community members 2. Provided networking opportunities for entrepreneurs, key decision makers and funders 3. Increased understanding and initiation of marketing, business planning and banking processes This event built upon the highly successful I DO BUSINESS National Summit & Tradeshow hosted in Toronto, Ontario in March of 2013. More than 150 Aboriginal Entrepreneurs and representatives from government, corporations and non-profits attended the National Summit coming from coast to coast to coast. Now, the Community and Regional Summits I DO BUSINESS. is planning and delivering are bringing the energy, knowledge, resources, and entrepreneurial skill-building opportunities from the national stage to Aboriginal Entrepreneurs in First Nation Communities throughout Ontario! Finally, I DO BUSINESS. would like to thank our project partner Nishawbi Aski Nation (NAN) and more specifically the Economic Resource Development Unit (ERDU) for all their continued support and commitment to delivering these Summits in NAN Territory. I DO BUSINESS. would also like to thank the staff at the Chapleau Cree First Nation band office, specifically Donna Byce the Economic Development Officer, for all their warm welcome and hard work. We know there are many self-employment opportunities for Aboriginal individuals in the Chapleau area and we look forward to working with them to provide continuous learning and business opportunities! About Chapleau Cree First Nation Chapleau Cree First Nation is located by Chapleau Township, Sudbury District, Ontario, Canada with an on-reserve population of roughly 92. From catering, to youth skills training and crafting CCFN has a small but growing business base. We were honoured to be welcomed into the community and have so many eager individuals participate.
