Leslie Lounsbury, President of Spirit of Youth Enterprises Inc., fulfilled her life-long dream in 2002 with the launch of the largest lifestyle magazine for and about Native people—SAY Magazine, recipient of 2012, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2004 and 2004 Native American Journalists Association Media Awards.
As a Native (Métis) single mother of six, she experienced first hand the need for education, economic, entertainment, sports and health information addressing Native people, especially our youth. SAY's mission statement is HOPE and its mandate –  Celebrating Our Successes.

“Our Native community needs to see themselves for what they are - positive, successful and participating in mainstream society.” 

Leslie worked for the Province of Manitoba Department of Education for over thirty years, with experience in teaching Business Administration, and managing several provincial programs. She has extensive experience in the recruitment and retention of Native people.  Leslie was editor for provincial and federal career tabloids. She has volunteered with a variety of community groups, including the Interprovincial Association on Native Employment.
